Joye Cottage is a sprawling winter estate in Aiken, South Carolina, and one of the area's oldest and largest retreat properties. Built largely in 1897 when wealthy industrialist William Collins Whitney purchased and extensively remodeled the land, the compound exemplifies Prairie School architectural principles. The main house anchors a complex of outbuildings including a stable, greenhouse, laundry house, cottages, and squash court, reflecting the scale and amenities expected of a Gilded Age winter residence. The property was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1980.
