The JR Central Towers, twin skyscrapers rising 226 meters above Nagoya Station in Nakamura-ku, central Japan, were completed in December 1999. Designed by Kohn Pedersen Fox Associates and Taisei Corporation, the complex serves as headquarters for the Central Japan Railway Company and forms one of the world's largest train station complexes by floor area. The slightly taller office tower stands alongside a hotel tower that houses the Nagoya Marriott Associa, while Takashimaya occupies retail space within. At the time of measurement, the towers ranked as Nagoya's second-tallest building and Japan's eighth-tallest overall.
