Khotyn Fortress is a fortification complex on the right bank of the Dniester River in southwestern Ukraine, within the historical region of northern Bessarabia. Construction of the stone fortress began in the late fourteenth century when the territory was part of Moldavia, with significant improvements undertaken in the 1380s and 1460s under Romanian princes Alexander the Good and Stephen the Great. The site is registered among Ukraine's immovable monuments and lies near Kamianets-Podilskyi Castle, another major defensive structure in the region.
