La Piscine, an art and industry museum in Roubaix, northern France, occupies a repurposed Art Deco–era indoor swimming pool. Designed by architects Jean-Paul Philippon and Albert Baert and converted to museum use in 2000, the building preserves its striking Art Deco interior while serving as a contemporary cultural institution. The adaptive reuse of the former pool—its swimming basin now hosting exhibitions—creates an unusual and distinctive setting for displaying art and industrial heritage. Recognized as Remarkable Contemporary Architecture and part of France's twentieth-century patrimoine, La Piscine exemplifies the sensitive transformation of period architecture into functional modern museums.
