Located in Paris's 16th arrondissement near the Bois de Boulogne, Piscine Molitor is an Art Deco swimming pool and hotel complex designed by Lucien Pollet, Alain-Charles Perrot, and Jacques Rougerie and completed in 1929. The complex was inaugurated by Olympic swimmers Aileen Riggin, Matthew Gauntlett, and Johnny Weissmuller. It gained lasting cultural significance when Louis Réard introduced the bikini there on July 5, 1946. After closing in 1989, the pool was designated a French monument historique in 1990. The complex was rebuilt to preserve its historic Art Deco character and reopened in May 2014 with two pools and a four-star hotel.
