Lake View Grange No. 970, a two-story gable-front frame building in Westport, Essex County, New York, exemplifies Colonial Revival architecture and reflects the evolving social needs of a rural community. Built around 1920, the structure measures 36 by 90 feet and takes advantage of its banked site. Originally housing a local Grange chapter from its construction through approximately 1940, the building subsequently served as Depew's Roller Rink in the 1950s, then as a chapter of the American Legion before becoming the Westport town and village offices after 1971. Listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2013, it stands as a testament to the multipurpose civic spaces that sustained small American towns across generations.
