The Lathrop House, built in Redwood City, California in 1863, is among the San Francisco Peninsula's oldest mansions and exemplifies the Carpenter Gothic architectural style. Mary C. Lathrop, wife of Benjamin G. Lathrop, purchased the land in 1858, and the eleven-room residence was completed five years later. Now a historic house museum listed on the National Register of Historic Places and designated a California Point of Historical Interest, the building has occupied several locations within a few blocks of its original site in Redwood City throughout its institutional history.
