Latyan Dam is a concrete buttress dam on the Jajrood River, less than 25 kilometers south of Tehran, completed between 1963 and 1967. Standing 107 meters high, it was designed in the Pahlavi architectural style and serves as one of the primary water sources for the Tehran metropolitan region. The dam incorporates a 45 megawatt hydroelectric power station, with its first generator commissioned on March 17, 1969, and a second added on April 13, 1987. Originally named Farahnaz Pahlavi Dam, it was renamed Latyan Dam around 1979 following the Iranian Revolution.
