Lehnin Abbey, a Cistercian monastery founded in 1180 in Brandenburg, Germany, represents a crucial monument of medieval German eastward expansion into newly settled territories. Built in brick Gothic style, the complex features Romanesque and Gothic brickstone structures that were substantially restored in the 1870s. Originally secularized during the Protestant Reformation in 1542, the abbey was later repurposed as the Luise-Henrietten-Stift, a Protestant deaconesses' house, from 1911 onward. The extensively preserved buildings constitute a significant part of Brandenburg's architectural heritage.
