The ruins of Linlithgow Palace stand in the town of Linlithgow, West Lothian, fifteen miles west of Edinburgh, Scotland. One of the principal royal residences of Scotland's monarchs during the 15th and 16th centuries, the palace was abandoned as a regular seat of power after the Scottish crown united with England in 1603. Though maintained thereafter, it saw little use until a fire gutted the structure in 1746, leaving only ruins. Now designated part of a Scheduled Monument, the site is managed by Historic Environment Scotland and serves as a visitor attraction.
