The Santuario della Madonna del Sangue in Re, Italy, is a minor basilica and pilgrimage shrine built in 1958 by architect Edoardo Collamarini. Designed in Byzantine Revival and Gothic Revival styles, it stands on the site of a venerated miracle: in 1494, a small fresco of the Nursing Madonna was struck by a stone and began to bleed. The sanctuary has become the most important religious destination in Val Vigezzo, drawing pilgrims from across the region and forming part of the Via del Mercato, a recognized itinerary within CoEur—In the Heart of European Paths.
