Maison Hermès, completed in 2001 in Tokyo's Ginza district, is the flagship store and Japanese headquarters of the French luxury house, designed by Renzo Piano with Berkeley-based Bohlin Cywinski Jackson and Japanese contractor Takenaka Corporation. Spanning 6,000 square metres, the building integrates retail, corporate offices, workshops, and exhibition galleries, topped with a roof garden. Its defining architectural feature is a recessed courtyard that bisects the long façade, creating visual relief while providing direct access to Ginza Station below.
