Benesse House, an art museum and hotel on the island of Naoshima in Japan, opened in 1992 as an early cornerstone of the Benesse Art Site's efforts to transform the island into an art destination. Designed by Japanese architect Tadao Ando, the building exemplifies his distinctive approach to architectural form and space. Since its inception, Ando has expanded the complex and integrated it with other components of the Benesse Art Site, including the Valley Gallery and the Hiroshi Sugimoto Gallery, both completed in 2022.
