Merikasarmi is a barracks complex in the Katajanokka district of Helsinki, originally built between 1816 and 1820 for the Russian Empire military and designed by Carl Ludvig Engel. The neoclassical ensemble now houses the Finnish Ministry for Foreign Affairs, which relocated to the site in the late 1980s following renovations and partial reconstruction overseen by architect Erik Kråkström. Protected as a heritage building, Merikasarmi sits adjacent to the Katajanokka quay, where Finnish state icebreakers are moored.
