Overlooking Senate Square in central Helsinki, the Government Palace is the executive office building of Finland's government, housing the Prime Minister's Office, the Chancellor of Justice, and most departments of the Ministry of Finance. Designed by Carl Ludvig Engel and completed in 1822, this neoclassical structure was formerly known as the Senate House. Protected under Finnish heritage law, the building is typically closed to the public, though occasional open days are held.
