The Modern Theater in Sofia, constructed in 1908, stands as a Vienna Secession movie house in Bulgaria's capital. Built during the early decades of cinema, the theater reflects the ornamental architectural vocabulary of the turn-of-the-century Vienna Secession style, characterized by elegant ornamentation and refined geometric forms. Now designated a monument, the building represents an important example of early twentieth-century entertainment architecture in Sofia.
