Naulakha, a Shingle Style house designed by Henry Rutgers Marshall, stands on Kipling Road near Brattleboro, Vermont, built in 1893. The home is best known as the residence of author Rudyard Kipling, who lived there from 1893 to 1896 and wrote some of his most celebrated works within its walls, including *Captains Courageous*, *The Jungle Book*, *The Day's Work*, and *The Seven Seas*, alongside substantial portions of *Kim* and *The Just So Stories*. Kipling named the house after the Naulakha Pavilion in Lahore Fort, reflecting his deep connection to India. Designated a National Historic Landmark in 1993, the house is now owned by the Landmark Trust and operated as a rental property for visitors.
