The Nicolai Fechin House in Taos, New Mexico, is a two-story adobe dwelling built in 1927 and substantially modified by the Russian artist Nicolai Fechin after its acquisition. Working in a Pueblo Revival style, Fechin enlarged the porch and enlarged and widened windows to capture views while incorporating hand-carved fittings and furniture that blend Russian design traditions—including triptych windows and intricately carved doors—with Native American, Spanish, and Art Deco elements. The resulting synthesis reflects a modernist sensibility. After Fechin's 1933 divorce, his wife Alexandra remained in the house until shortly before her 1983 death. Their daughter Eya initiated restoration efforts in the 1970s and opened the house to visitors in 1981 through the Fechin Institute, which she founded. Listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1979, the property eventually became a house museum and home to the Taos Art Museum.
