Nividic Lighthouse stands on Ouessant (Ushant) off the Breton coast, one of five major lighthouses marking this strategically vital island. Built in 1912 and constructed of reinforced concrete and brick, this 35.55-metre tower was groundbreaking as the world's first automatic lighthouse, eliminating the need for resident lighthouse keepers—a significant technological advance in maritime safety. The structure has been classified as a historical monument since 2017, reflecting its importance both as an engineering landmark and as part of Ouessant's constellation of navigational aids.
