Standing on the island of Ouessant (Ushant) off the coast of Brittany in northwestern France, the Stiff lighthouse has guided mariners since 1699, making it one of the oldest existing lighthouses in France. Built of stone and rising 32.4 meters, this sentinel has endured nearly three and a half centuries of Atlantic weather on one of Europe's most treacherous maritime approaches. The structure's longevity and historical significance have earned it classification as a French historical monument.
