Located on the southeastern outskirts of Nishapur in northeastern Iran's Razavi Khorasan province, the Omar Khayyam Mausoleum is a striking monument of white marble erected over the philosopher and poet's grave. Designed by architect Hooshang Seyhoun and completed in 1963 under the patronage of Reza Shah, the structure exemplifies Pahlavi-era contemporary Iranian architecture. Its distinctive form has become iconic, appearing on the coat of arms of multiple local institutions including Neyshabur University and its medical sciences branch, and was designated to Iran's National Heritage List in 1975, affirming its cultural significance as both a memorial and architectural landmark.
