Built in 1570 during the Ottoman occupation of Greece, the Osman Shah Mosque in Trikala stands as a remarkable example of Ottoman architecture designed by the celebrated imperial architect Mimar Sinan. Also known as the Kursum Mosque—a reference to its distinctive lead-covered dome—the structure served as a congregational mosque until its abandonment around the 1890s. Following the Ottoman withdrawal from the region, the building was repurposed for cultural functions and today remains an archaeological site in Greece, preserving an important chapter of the city's multilayered history and testifying to Sinan's architectural legacy in the Balkans.
