Palazzo Abatellis, a late-fifteenth-century palace in Palermo's Kalsa quarter, was designed by Matteo Carnilivari and built beginning in 1495. The building later underwent significant intervention by Carlo Scarpa, whose modern sensibility shaped its interior spaces. Now designated Italian national heritage, the palazzo houses the Galleria Regionale della Sicilia, the regional art gallery for Sicily, and serves as both an archaeological and public museum, preserving and displaying works within its historic fabric.
