In the heart of Milan's Piazza del Duomo stands the Palazzo dell'Arengario, a pair of symmetrical buildings designed in the Novecento Italiano style by architects Gualtiero Galmanini, Pier Giulio Magistretti, Enrico Agostino Griffini, Piero Portaluppi, and Giovanni Muzio. Completed in the 1950s, the complex originally served as a local government seat during the Fascist period—its name deriving from this administrative function. Today it houses the Museo del Novecento, dedicated to twentieth-century Italian art, and remains part of Italy's national heritage.
