Located in Orchomenos, Boeotia, the Panaghia Skripou Monastery is a Byzantine structure built around 870 CE, representing an important example of the transitional cruciform church type in the Greek area. The monastery was likely commissioned as a funerary monument by Leo, Protospatharios of the Byzantine imperial palace guard, around 873–874 CE. Today only the katholikon, or main church dedicated to the Dormition of Theotokos, survives as a functioning structure. The building exemplifies Macedonian Renaissance and Byzantine architectural principles and is distinguished by a vertical sundial that adorns its façade. The site is protected as both an archaeological site and a listed building in Greece.
