The Patton Block Building at 88–90 Public Square in Monmouth, Illinois, is a red brick commercial structure erected in 1891 by businessman and politician Robert S. Patton. Designed in the Commercial style characteristic of the Chicago School, the building is distinguished by stained glass panels in the upper story windows—a rare feature that makes it Monmouth's only commercial building to employ such ornamentation. Since its construction, the building has housed diverse tenants, most notably the La Grande Theatre, which opened in 1909 as one of Monmouth's earliest movie houses, as well as fraternal organizations including the Rebekahs, Fraternal Order of Eagles, and Modern Woodmen of America. Listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1990, it is part of the Monmouth Courthouse Commercial Historic District.
