The Syndicate Block is a two-story brick commercial building in La Porte City, Iowa, constructed in phases between 1891 and 1894 by the La Porte Improvement Company, a group of real estate investors. The largest commercial structure in the city, it showcases late Victorian styling with a unified architectural design across its five sections. Brick pilasters topped with pinnacles articulate each unit, while the second floor features round-arched windows throughout. Decorative brickwork adorns the parapet and cornice, the latter bearing a stone plaque inscribed "Syndicate/Block/1891"; a triangular pediment rises above the 216 Main Street entrance. A common passageway between units provides access to the second-floor spaces. Though some storefronts have been modified, the upper floor retains its original character. The building was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2005.
