This Tudor Revival house, built in 1925 in Austin's Hyde Park Historic District, was constructed by master carpenter Peter Mansbendel, who enriched it with hand-carved wood decorations throughout. Located at 3824 Avenue F within the Shadow Lawn subdivision—itself part of the neighborhood established by Hyde Park founder Monroe M. Shipe—the residence reflects Mansbendel's exceptional craftsmanship. Beyond his work on his own home, Mansbendel gained recognition for carving wooden doors during the mid-century restoration of San Antonio's Governor's Palace and for contributing carved elements to Austin's first permanent public library, completed in 1933. The house was designated a Recorded Texas Historic Landmark and added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1990.
