Located in the civil parish of Sé, Santa Maria e Meixedo in Bragança, Portugal, this 15th-century Manueline pillory is a sculpted stone column that once served as a symbol of royal justice and administrative authority. Erected over a four-step octagonal platform, the structure comprises a cylindrical column adorned with zoomorphic and anthropomorphic scenes, along with the shield of Bragança itself. The column's sculptural ornament and design are characteristic of its era, reflecting the artistic conventions of late medieval Portugal. As a whipping post and place of public punishment, the pillory embodied the civic and judicial power of the crown. Designated a National Monument of Portugal in 1910, it survives as a rare material witness to medieval municipal governance and social order.
