The Pioneer Monument stands in San Francisco's Civic Center on Fulton Street, between Hyde and Larkin streets, adjacent to the San Francisco Public Library. Created by sculptor Frank Happersberger and financed by James Lick's estate, this Victorian-era work combines granite and bronze, featuring monumental figures and reliefs dedicated on November 29, 1894. A controversial component titled Early Days was removed from the monument in 2018.
