Opened in September 2002, the Pola Museum of Art sits within Fuji-Hakone-Izu National Park in Hakone, Kanagawa Prefecture, Japan. Designed by the architectural firm Nikken Sekkei, the striking building houses over 9,500 artworks amassed by the former head of the Pola cosmetics group, with particular strengths in French Impressionism and École de Paris paintings. In 2013, the museum expanded its grounds with the addition of the Pola Museum of Art Nature Trail, a 670-meter hiking path that allows visitors to experience the surrounding national park landscape.
