Located at 11 Bankova Street in Kyiv, the Presidential Office Building—colloquially known as Bankova—is a Stalinist architectural monument that serves as the primary office of the President of Ukraine and the National Security and Defense Council. Designed by Borys Zhezherin and Serhii Hryhoriev and completed in 1939, the building represents a reconstruction of the earlier Kyiv Military District headquarters, originally erected in the 1870s to designs by Oleksandr Shile. Built following the transfer of Ukrainian SSR government institutions from Kharkiv to Kyiv, it is recognized as a peak achievement of architectural artistry and holds status as a local cultural heritage monument of architecture in Ukraine.
