Located in Prague's New Town, the Provozní budova metra is a brutalist structure completed in 1989 by architects František Novotný and Aleš Moravec, working through the Projektový ústav výstavby Prahy (Prague Construction Design Institute). The building exemplifies the monumental concrete aesthetic characteristic of Brutalism, a style that dominated institutional architecture in Czechoslovakia during the late Communist period. As an operational facility for the Prague Metro system, it represents the infrastructure development of the city's modernist era.
