The Qanats of Ghasabeh, also known as Kariz e Kay Khosrow, is one of the world's oldest and largest underground aqueduct networks, built between 700 and 500 BCE by the Achaemenid Empire in Gonabad, Razavi Khorasan Province, Iran. The vast system encompasses 427 water wells spanning 33,113 metres in total length and exemplifies the sophisticated hydraulic engineering of Achaemenid and Parthian architecture. First tentatively listed by UNESCO in 2007, the site was officially inscribed as part of "The Persian Qanat" collective World Heritage designation in 2016, recognizing its exceptional historical and cultural significance.
