The Rahr–West Art Museum occupies the Joseph Vilas Jr. House, a significant Queen Anne style residence built in 1891 in Manitowoc, Wisconsin. Designed by the architectural firm Ferry & Clas and constructed of wood shingle, the house exemplifies the Shingle style characteristic of its era. Now serving as an art museum, the building is recognized for its architectural importance and is listed on both the Wisconsin State Register of Historic Places and the National Register of Historic Places.
