The Rashtrapati Bhavan, official residence of the President of India, stands at the western end of Rajpath on Raisina Hill in New Delhi. Designed by Edwin Lutyens and Herbert Baker and completed in 1929, the building integrates Indo-Saracenic architecture within the Delhi Order style. Originally commissioned as Viceroy's House, it housed the Viceroy of India from 1931 until independence, then briefly served as Government House before becoming the presidential residence in 1950. The sprawling H-shaped structure comprises 340 rooms across four floors and a basement, with corridors extending 2.5 kilometers through its 200,000 square meters of floor space—making it the world's largest official residence by total area. The main building sits within a 320-acre presidential estate encompassing gardens, staff quarters, stables, and administrative offices. It is designated as an NDMC Heritage Building Grade I.
