Rock Ridge, a Shingle style house built in 1898 in Monterey, Massachusetts, exemplifies the turn-of-the-twentieth-century summer estate architecture favored by wealthy industrialists. Constructed for Curtis Judd, an Illinois businessman with roots in the region, the house at 48 Tyringham Road retains its architectural integrity as a well-preserved period specimen. Its listing on the National Register of Historic Places in 1983 reflects its historical significance as a representative work of the Shingle style era.
