The Roman Theatre of Saguntum, located at the foot of Sagunto Castle in eastern Spain, is a well-preserved example of first-century Roman theatre architecture built during the reign of Emperor Augustus. Ingeniously constructed into the mountain's slope, the theatre comprises a semicircular cavea with three tiers of seating capable of holding some 8,000 spectators, and a frons scaenae (stage building) that rises to match the height of the grandstands' upper portico. The theatre occupies an intermediate terrace in the city's planned urban layout, positioned between the lower settlement and the Forum above. Designated a Bien de Interés Cultural (Cultural Heritage Site) in 1896, it remains one of Spain's most significant Roman theatrical remains.
