Built in 1878 for fruit dealers Lyman Ross and his son Oscar, the Ross House in San Jose, California exemplifies the Italianate architectural style popular in the late nineteenth century. The family retained ownership until 1889, after which the property passed through several hands, including a period from 1900 to 1931 when it belonged to surgeon William E. Keith. The house was converted to apartments in 1949. It has been recognized on the National Register of Historic Places since October 1982.
