The Royal National Theatre stands on the South Bank of the Thames in London's Lambeth district, a commanding example of Brutalist architecture designed by Denys Lasdun. Completed in the 1970s, the building's massive concrete structure features the stark, sculptural forms characteristic of the Brutalist movement, with its distinctive terraced levels and bold geometric massing rising prominently along the riverfront. As a Grade II* listed building, it remains one of Britain's most significant postwar cultural structures, housing multiple performance spaces within its fortress-like concrete envelope.
