The Saddlehorn Comfort Station, located at the intersection of Rim Rock Drive and the Saddlehorn Loop in Colorado National Monument, Mesa County, is a public restroom building exemplifying the National Park Service Rustic style. Designed in 1936 by W.G. Carney of the NPS Branch of Plans and Designs, it features coursed ashlar sandstone masonry and log-supported roof structure characteristic of the style. The building was constructed by the Works Progress Administration and the Civilian Conservation Corps, specifically by craftsmen known as LEMs (Local Experienced Men)—Italian-descent stonemasons—from CCC camp NM-2-C, using stone salvaged from nearby Rim Rock Drive construction. The design employed meticulous "built by detail" specifications that dictated the dimensions and placement of individual stones. Listed on the National Register of Historic Places as part of a multiple property submission, the comfort station stands alongside a caretaker's house, garage, and utility area, all sharing consistent architectural interpretation.
