Located in Galata, Istanbul, the Saint Gregory the Illuminator Church is the oldest extant Armenian Apostolic church in the city, originally constructed in the late 14th century during the Genoese period, shortly before Constantinople's fall to the Ottomans. Built in the traditional Armenian architectural style distinguished by its distinctive dome with a conical roof, it remained the city's sole church employing this design tradition. The original structure was demolished in 1958 and subsequently reconstructed in the 1960s. The Getronagan Armenian High School was established adjacent to the church in 1886.
