St. Joseph's Academy in Saint Paul, Minnesota, was a Catholic girls' school founded in 1851 by the Sisters of St. Joseph, beginning in a log cabin before relocating to a new building in 1863. That structure, designed in the Italianate architectural style, was expanded over subsequent decades into a complex that remains the oldest extant Catholic school building in Minnesota. Listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1975, the academy operated until 1971 and was recognized for its significance in architecture, education, and religion as both a pioneering Catholic educational institution and an enduring symbol of religious community efforts on the American frontier.
