Saint Martin's Church in Bremen's old town, situated near the Weser river, is one of the city's oldest churches and stands as a masterwork of Brick Gothic architecture. Built of brick and rising 62 meters, the structure exemplifies the medieval building traditions of northern Germany, where stone was scarce and clay-fired brick became the dominant material. Today a Protestant church, it remains a protected cultural heritage monument and one of Bremen's most significant ecclesiastical landmarks.
