The Sanctuary and Monastery of Las Nazarenas in Lima is a Rococo church completed in 1771, built alongside a monastery for Discalced Carmelite nuns following a major earthquake. The site serves as the starting point for the Procession of the Lord of Miracles (Señor de los Milagros), the venerated patron of Lima, which takes place on October 18, 19, and 28—among America's most important religious observances. Now recognized as part of Peru's cultural heritage, the sanctuary embodies both the spiritual aspirations and architectural recovery of colonial Lima in the late eighteenth century.
