Sandhammaren lighthouse stands on a point east of Ystad in Scania, Sweden, designed by Albert Theodor Gellerstedt and Gustaf von Heidenstam and completed in 1862. Rising 29.4 meters, it was originally built as a pair of identical towers to avoid confusion with the lighthouse on Ertholmene. The first lights burned colza oil until 1891, when one tower was deactivated and relocated to Pite-Rönnskär in Norrland; its lamp was converted to paraffin at that time. The remaining lighthouse was electrified in 1952 and is now operated by the Swedish Maritime Administration. The complex is a governmental listed building.
