The Sassenpoort, or Saxon Gate, is a Gothic gatehouse built into the city wall of Zwolle, Netherlands, in 1409 by architect Jacobus van Lokhorst. Constructed primarily from dimension stone—trachyte and tuff—the structure exemplifies medieval defensive architecture. The gatehouse underwent significant restoration between 1893 and 1898, preserving its historic fabric for subsequent generations. Today it stands as a rijksmonument and is recognized as part of the Top 100 Dutch heritage sites, testament to its architectural and cultural importance in the Netherlands' architectural heritage.
