SECU Stadium is an outdoor athletic facility on the University of Maryland campus in College Park that opened in 1950, designed by James R. Edmunds, Jr. and Populous. Home to Maryland Terrapins football and men's lacrosse teams competing in the Big Ten Conference, the stadium was originally named Byrd Stadium after Harry "Curley" Byrd, a multi-sport athlete, football coach, and university president of the early twentieth century. Following objections to Byrd's history of supporting segregation, the facility was temporarily renamed Maryland Stadium before adopting its current name.
