Oriole Park at Camden Yards in Baltimore, Maryland, designed by Populous and completed in 1992, was the first of the "retro" major league ballparks built during the 1990s and early 2000s. Located in downtown Baltimore a few blocks west of the Inner Harbor, it replaced Memorial Stadium as home to the Baltimore Orioles. Since its opening, the stadium has been widely praised as one of baseball's finest venues and is credited with sparking a broader wave of neotraditional ballpark construction, reversing the era of cookie-cutter stadiums that had dominated the mid to late twentieth century.
