Sahlen Field is a baseball park in Buffalo, New York, designed by Populous and opened on April 14, 1988. Originally called Pilot Field, it was the first retro-classic ballpark built in the world and was designed with plans for Major League Baseball expansion, though Buffalo had lacked an MLB team since 1915. The stadium seats up to 16,600 people, making it the highest-capacity Triple-A ballpark in the United States. Home to the Buffalo Bisons of the International League, it replaced War Memorial Stadium as the team's venue. Beyond baseball, Sahlen Field has hosted diverse events including the Triple-A All-Star Game, the World University Games in 1993, and the National Buffalo Wing Festival. The venue temporarily became home to the Toronto Blue Jays during the 2020 and 2021 seasons when they were displaced by the COVID-19 pandemic.
